Indonesian Local Brand VS International Brand: Make Over Intense Matte Lip Cream VS Victoria’s Secret Velvet Matte Cream Lip Stain

Hello! After months I finally come back. It’s been a good semester, and meanwhile I am finally back on a new term at college. Actually I want to introduce a new segment which is ‘Indonesian Local Brand VS International Brand’ that will review not only cosmetics but also other stuffs. Stay tune for more reviews from me!

I’ve always been a huge fan of lips cosmetics. I feel like, if I don't wear anything on our lips while going out, it feels incomplete. On this post, I want to share my thoughts on my two favorite lip creams—one from local brand that is totally recommended by fellow beauty bloggers, and the other one is from the brand we all know about. This is an honest review, and this review is not sponsored by any of the mentioned brands.

Make Over Intense Matte Lip Cream is one of products which is recommended by local beauty blogger. It has many range of colors, and as a fan of nude color I really love those shades. While Victoria’s Secret, as we all know, has launched several shades of velvet matte lip creams since last year. But it is only available in Indonesian stores since about a couple of months ago, and that’s why when the wait is over I can’t keep my hands to myself.
As those two are my favorite, I am writing this review as my honest opinion. So, I hope this review would be useful to guide you. The lip creams that I feature in this review are Make Over Intense Matte Lip Cream number 015, and Victoria’s Secret Velvet Matte Cream Lip Stain shade Magnetic.

First Impression
First impression mattered, because the packaging will define how you attract the costumer. Make Over Intense Matte Lip Cream has a rectangular bottle which is so small and fits in just about your hand. I love it because I can take it anywhere with me and it is not taking much of spaces in my makeup pouch. While Victoria’s Secret Velvet Matte Cream Lip Stain has a slightly taller circular bottle. But I like it because the package is totally elegant and slim. Overall, both fits in my makeup pouch perfectly, and each has their own shapes and package.

Scent
Some lip cosmetics have scents, and it could be annoying. Make Over has a faints scent that I believe is not chemical, but more like chocolate? But the scent is faint and not so annoying which is okay for me. Victoria’s Secret Velvet Matte Cream Lip Stain smells like a mixture of vanilla and candy which I absolutely love. Though each products has different scents, those scents are just tolerable for daily use.

Texture and Pigment
As written on each packages, both the products are matte lip cream, but are they? The answer is yes. Both of them are matte. For the Make Over, the texture is slightly creamy and pigmented. Not that I am saying that the VS one is not, but Make Over one is creamy while the VS one is less creamy. But talking about the pigment, Victoria’s Secret Velvet Matte Cream Lip Stain is definitely more pigmented, and the color looks more radiant. Fair enough.

Applicator
I have tried some other lip creams, especially local ones, with different applicators, and I think these two are still my top two. Make Over has small applicator and a little bit thick on the tip, which is okay for me. But sometimes it annoys me that the cream is overdone past my lip line, so that I have to wipe it a little bit. Meanwhile, Victoria’s Secret Velvet Matte Cream Lip Stain has this slim applicator at the tip and it fits me just perfectly.

Long-lasting
One characteristic that has always been the main interest when shopping a lip cream is whether the product is long lasting. I tell you, each products have different levels of long-lasting. Sure, both Make Over and Victoria’s Secret are long-lasting. But the difference is that Make Over Intense Matte Lip Cream lasts longer than Victoria’s Secret Velvet Matte Cream Lip Stain which I am okay with. Make Over lasts longer, like literally the cream is still there even after I wash my face, while Victoria’s Secret is easier to wipe out under the shower but still leaving stain in the lips.

 These are my babies.

Each products exist with their own plus and minus which is okay for me. After all, those two are still my favorite above all matte lip creams that I have tried. Well, I hope this review is useful, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

For the prices, these two are a little bit tricky, since I live in Indonesia. Make Over Intense Matte Lip Cream is included as drugstore make up with only IDR 100.000, and you can find it in all drugstore and department stores (you can visit www.makeoverforall.com). Meanwhile, Victoria’s Secret Velvet Matte Cream Lip Stain is available in Victoria’s Secret stores both online and in stores with IDR 189.000 or $14 on www.victoriassecret.com.

That's all for now, and see ya on the next post!

Love Forever,

Mary xx

Night Routine with Petroleum Jelly

Ciao friends! Welcome back to my blog post! Today I am going to tell you about my night routine with petroleum jelly. As we all know, petroleum jelly has so many uses, and it is widely used in cosmetic skin care. Now, I am gonna show you how I use this petroleum jelly (product by Vaseline). My night routine consists of brushing my teeth, washing my face, and dipping right into Vaseline petroleum jelly. The texture of this jelly is really soft and balm like. Apply a small amount of jelly on any areas that you desired.  Firstly, I use it for my lips. I have dry and chapped lips, so I apply this jelly, just a little bit, on them before bed, and when I wake up in the morning, my lips are no longer chapped. You need to do this every night as a routine for a better effect. Then, I too apply this jelly on some pimples on my face. Yes, I do have a problem with this for a while, and petroleum jelly finally helps me out. Those little pimples are little by little no lon...

Stockholm Syndrome as a Survival Instinct

Hi fellas! Been so long since my last post, and now I am back! I want to share something with you guys, and this actually is something that I've discovered for a while now. Hope you enjoy! Stockholm Syndrome as a Survival Instinct   Stockholm syndrome. Some of us may have heard those two words. Maybe from a song title whose a songwriter used as the song’s inspiration, or maybe from several fictions on reading sites like Wattpad. But actually, does Stockholm syndrome exist? Let’s check this out! The origin of the syndrome itself was a bank robbery in Stockholm, Sweden, back in August 23rd 1973, including the hostage of four people within 131 hours. At that time, the unusual phenomenon occurred. One of the hostages, Kristin Enmark (23), was actually ‘bonding’ emotionally with the captor. She even confronted and feared the police when they were being rescued. She then confessed her dislike towards the police and defended the captors on the local radio. Later in th...

So Good Album does Sound so Good

Hello there! Been so long since my last music review, and it was about Zayn Malik's Pillowtalk . Phew! I've been gone for so long, but now I decided to be more active in running this blog. As you can see, my blog has just been renewed and I am pretty satisfied with the new theme. So, in this post I'm going to give my opinion about this (kinda new) album from Swedish singer, Zara Larsson. I am pretty sure that you have heard about her before.     Few weeks ago, I discovered an album in Spotify. See, I wasn't really aware of new musics until I made a Spotify account. I have heard about Zara Larsson before, but not sure which song of hers that I've heard. So, I decided to listen to Ain't My Fault as it was pretty much people's jam. Turned out that the tune was so good and it stayed in my head for days. Then I listened to the entire album and fell in love instantly. I bought the CD here . But if you are not from Indonesia and willing to purchase...
